For 24 years, The Chute was Nashville's premiere LGBT nightclub comprised of 6 bars under one roof. The Stirrup, with it's own seperate entrance, was the Piano Bar, and opened for Happy Hour daily with Timmy Harkum and Michael Fields as the main bartenders. In 2007 when they got wind that the complex would be closing they realized that their dream of one day owning their own bar could actually come to pass, and the beginings of the New Stirrup were set into motion.
Once they found their location, an out of business local hangout near the Tennessee State Fairgrounds, they began the rennovations that resulted in their opening in July of 2008.
Ex-Chute co-workers, who had dispersed upon the Chute's closing, were more than happy to come support the new Stirrup and rekindle the vibe that was once a part of their old beloved hangout...and thus the legacy was reborn.
A more diverse specturm of customers is not to be found in the Nashville LGBT bar scene. From white collar to blue collar, jock to twink, everyone knows they are welcome at The Stirrup.
In November of 2011 Mikey decided it was time to move on and left the partnership. We wish him the best in all his future endeavours.
